Today, maps provide information on a wide range of topics, from population growth to forest depletion. Suppose you're looking for a map to tell you about earthquakes in the United States. You decide to look for it on the Internet.

Directions
Start at the U.S. Geological Survey Web site.
  • Click on Earthquake Topics and browse through some of the links.
  • Then return to the main screen and click on Latest Quakes
  • Analyze the map, then answer the following questions.

1. Which part of the country experiences the most earthquakes?


2. Which part appears to experience the least?


3. How do earthquakes pertain to the geographic theme of human/environment interaction?


4. What sort of information might you include on this map to help someone living in an area prone to earthquakes?
